Petition for Richmond Voters Petition for Canadian Voters

Joe Peschisolido:

Its understandable why you crossed over to the Liberals!

They don't have any principles except naked ambition for power and neither do you!

You should resign as MP so that Richmond can vote in the man & party of their choice.

Here is a nice little ditty I received from a constituent:

HE WAS BIG AND BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
IN A CRAGGY SORT OF A WAY.
HE CAME TO THE WEST TO DO HIS BEST
AND HE WON THE POLITICAL FRAY
SO WE CHEERED HIM OFF TO OTTAWA
TO BATTLE THE LIBERAL FOE.
HE BETRAYED OUR TRUST AND SO NOW IS CUSSED
AS THAT INFAMOUS "TURNCOAT JOE".

Peschisolido has been relegated to an obscure chair in the Commons Chamber from which his presence is unlikely ever to be acknowledged. From this vantage point, Joe, it is improbable that our constituency will be visited with any perceptible benefit through your initiative. On the other hand, Joe, you, personally, will likely do quite well

We don't normally believe in addition by subtraction, but in this case we can't help but wonder if the Canadian Alliance didn't get a bit stronger the moment this B.C. MP bolted for greener pastures.

A former Ontario Liberal who turned up running for the Alliance leadership in 2000, Peschisolido never quite explained what it was that drew him to the new party, other than the fact that his old one didn't have much use for him. But that didn't stop him from relocating to British Columbia and running for the Alliance against junior minister Raymond Chan whom, by a combination of circumstance and luck, he managed to defeat.

Knowing that his chances of winning re-election as an Alliance MP were slim, and never having allowed party loyalty to get in his way before, Peschisolido was clearly looking for an opportunity to seek shelter on the Liberal benches. And so, when then-caucus colleague Roy Bailey piped up about the drawbacks of having an "Asiatic" Veterans Affairs Minister, Peschisolido wasted no time in voicing his outrage and leaping into Jean Chrétien's waiting arms.

We're still not quite sure why the Liberals wanted this guy, since they're hardly in danger of losing their majority government any time soon. But for the Alliance, this could actually prove to be a blessing - because now, they'll be able to put forward a more deserving candidate in Richmond in the next federal election, and hope Peschisolido isn't able to fluke a victory for the second time in a row.

So Joe is a Lawyer! Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!! Jim Carrey's movie "Liar Liar" truely discribe an unprincipaled person, him being a lawyer.

All Canadians should spit on him as he slithers by.

Begone Jim, lick the boots of your new master, and remember what you have chosen, "AXE THE TAX", "RECIND FREE TRADE", "I HAVE PEPPER ON MY STEAK", "I SPEAK TO THE HOMELESS GUY ON THE CORNER", SCHWINIGATE - COPPS - FREY - ECT ECT ECT. These are TRUTH's, not speculation. The CA may be getting their s_i_ together, but at least they are trying to change a non-demorcratic system.

To Mr. Peschisolido,

The people of your constituency voted for you because you were an Alliance candidate. They did not vote for Mr. Chan - Liberal. Do the right thing, step down, and stand as a Liberal in a by-election. If the people of Richmond truly want you and not the party, then you have nothing to fear.

Dear Mr. Peschisolido:

Do you even realize how immoral and shameful your act of deserting your Alliance supporters is? Has it even occurred to you what a traitorous act it was? Or are you just showing your true colors, Liberal colors, Liberal morals, Liberal lack of shame or accountability? Having met you on occasion in Ottawa at the UA Convention, and again elsewhere, you seemed like a decent, honorable guy. Now your true nature is coming out. I guess once a Liberal, always a Liberal. The Liberals are held in high disgust by a majority of Canadians because of their arrogant attitude, their tendency to totalitarian government, their socialist engineering of society, their rude dismissal of what most Canadians think important, their self-serving actions, their lies and deceit, their attempt to ignore what happened on September 11, their dishonesty in Parliament, their hypocritical and crooked leadership, etc.,etc.,etc. Will you feel at home in that group? Obviously so. Count your days in Parliament, Joe. They are numbered.

John DeRinzy
[derinzyj@cadvision.com]

What is it with this JOE business. I as a Richmond voter never got to know him that well to refer to him as JOE. To me he was MR. PESHISOLIDO until he showed his real self and I had to drop the MR.

Peter R.
[envirocleen@shaw.com]

Joe did, what he did, within a legal framework and has bought himself some convenient publicity. Publicity I might add, is always good, whether positive or negative.

Obviously, Joe has an agenda. I have my thoughts, however, it would not be prudent to speculate to that end at this time, particularly on this forum. I don't think Joe's a bad guy. He is a politician and it seems, a survivor. Now, if Joe is the kind of survivor who can himself, survive and float a sound political platform for his constituents and his fellow "person" then Joe may have more substance than you give him credit for.

I suppose What I am saying is; many people in politics have jumped ship, Ralph Klein, John Turner to name two. So what is wrong in being honest with ones-self? None of us are perfect we all make mistakes and if we learn from them all the better. Perhaps they are not mistakes and instead evolutionary decisions we must make in these fast changing times.

I think it behooves Joe to make a public statement to his Richmond constituents on his intentions, and his obligations to the people of Richmond. Perhaps reassurances are in order. The important thing here is, that Richmond be represented effectively, in Ottawa with full accountability.

Having said this, Joe needs to restate what mandate he is operating under, for the betterment of Richmond, given the climatic change in political agendas. For now, until I see any results, I reserve my judgement!

Then he's no more.

This site is the kind of immature ranting that continues to prove the Alliance will never gain the respect it takes to form a government. You should keep Stockwell Day. He is SO clearly representative of your inexperience and delusional pettiness. I'll bet this never appears in your reader's comments page. Lots of luck in the future.

Freddie in Halifax

Greetings Freddie,

and welcome to the ranks of the petty and delusional, seeing how your rant also made the web site. Give the web master his due for fairness even though he only has your a first name for a signature, unlike most of the rest of us who posted.

That aside, in your generous moments Freddie, give some thought to the voters who were deceived by a turncoat who has virtually stolen something from the very people who elected him. Trust. Stolen trust.

Trust in his word Freddie, that he would represent them as an Alliance member who shared their beliefs and values and not as a self serving opportunist.

If Joe Peschisolido had any intestinal fortitude he would have
resigned his seat and stood in a bi-election as a liberal.

Cheers!

Interesting to think that this turncoat's name freely translated might be something like: "fishing for money" from peschi = fish, solido = an imperial roman coin - in this case, something like 30 must have been involved.

Reminds me how my buddies use to call him Joe
"Pesky-a-sleazo". I guess the name will make a
comeback now.

The name stuck for me and my buddies when he showed
off his Masonic ring to me at UA1. A few months later
I learned that he was not even a Master Mason(as he
always suggested) when quizzed by a friend who he
wanted to be an organizer for his ill-fated leadership
campaign. Needlessly to say my friend turned down the
"opportunity".

Anyways enjoyed the site. Maybe the silver lining
will be Adrian Wade MP for Richmond. I can only hope.

I am not a resident of your riding, but I have been a member of Reform and Alliance since 1991.

In 1993, prior to the federal election, Joe P. phoned me to ask for a meeting as I had already won the nomination for my constituency of Don Valley North, Toronto. His Etobicoke riding was soon to have their nomination meeting and he wanted to learn more about the Reform party and my take on the prospects of the party in Toronto. We had a lengthy lunch at the Elliott House in Mississauga. Joe won the nomination for his riding and like all of us in Ontario (except Ed Harper) we lost.

Loyal Reformers who ran as candidates were mostly first timers not only as candidates but also in the political process. We learned how the other political parties behave in elections, but Preston stated many times, "keep to the high road" don't try to match the unethical tactics of the PCs and Liberals.

Because I got to know Joe through Reform gatherings over the years, like hundreds of other Reformers, I worked very hard for his campaign in the Etobicoke by-election, which he lost. He lost again in 1997. One could sense the anger and frustration in him at losing yet again, but not so much for the party as for his own ego and personal ambition.

To cut a long story short, having known Joe for these last 11 years, I am disgusted with his recent defection to the Liberals. My sympathy goes out to Alliance members and policy supporters who voted Joe in against the Liberal candidate. He will learn however, that by taking the "low road" he has killed his political career by this short-sighted act. Does he really think that Jean Chretien will support him over Raymond Chan as the candidate in the next election?

Joe, enjoy your brief claim to fame, you have nowhere else to go now, after your despicable decision, but back to anonymity.

Great idea, great job.

A fitting tribute to the most recent example of why people detest both lawyers & politicians. Joe perfectly exemplifies why both stereotypes exist.

Mr. Peschisolido got his seat as a Canadian Alliance representative and thanks to my vote. He has NO right to claim that he is representing the whole of Richmond. He's NOT representing me! Nor the other votes that made him win.

I want MY vote back!

I'm angry at the way he is treating the good faith of the voters -- this is not a Banana Republic this is Richmond, BC, Canada. What right does he have to leave a party and join another and still claim he's a clean politician. He is a crook!

(Post this if you want)

Hi Jim:

As a former MP/lawyer/now talkshow host – let me commend you on the very funny bit you did on Peschisolido.

However, your reason #10 does nothing for either politics or lawyers. And you – I assume, as a party guy – may continue to wonder why so many of us have our doubts about the Alliance. Can <15% of Canadians be wrong?

Regards.

John Gormley [jgormley@rawlco.com]

Jim ,

thank Pierre Bourque's page for the heads up of your good site on Joe Peschisolido.

Give Joe P credit for opportunism, he has found his real home, amongst the prevaricating governing party, but perhaps the libs may regret taking him in the long haul .
The tragic part is the deceit a turncoat has dealt to well meaning electors for his own self serving benefit.

On the brighter side however , Joe P, at the very least has just handed Alliance the best rebuttal lines for the life of this government.

All his previous anti Liberal, Martin, Chretch, etc. statements can be used as howitzers against the Libs, provided of course there is someone in the Alliance benches willing to lob them.

Decorum be damned! Nice, nice, nice in that place doesn't cut it when the PM and his cabinet ministers lie through there teeth daily and we just keep taking it!

Peschisolido's disgraceful conduct is only indicitive of the lack of principles and negligable respect that Joe has for both the democratic process and the voters of Richmond. If he has any shred of integrity left he would resign and submit himself to a by-election, in which he would most likely be trounced.

Dear sirs

Outrageous behaviour. Another confirmation as to the disgust of voting for politicians whose word and moral fibre have no foundation. This is the outcome of the West's experiment with secular humanism. The philosophy that " I know all " and that moral fibre and the quest for the truth depends on how I feel at that moment. What a joke. And when is the populace going to wake up and put the fire to these servants of the public purse. It's our fault. Just like a psychopath doesn't have any social restraints once they use their charm to get their way, the politicians behave similarly. We have to look in the mirror and blame ourselves for getting "sucked in by these personalities.

There is a comical saying about politicians. "Poli" from latin meaning "many" and "tic" from old English meaning " blood sucking organisms ". Peschisoldo is a prime example. We in Richmond had a Liberal who we threw out. How does Peschisoldo deal with that when he goes to bed?

But in the end, it is us the electorate who have to take responsibility and remove him from office for his immoral and insensitive actions towards the citizens of Richmond.

Let's turn to Emanual Swedenborg in conclusion

"It is no proof of a man's understanding to be able to
affirm whatever he pleases; but to be able to discern that
what is true is true, and that what is false is false, this
is the mark and character of intelligence."

Based on this, Peschisoldo has a long ways to go to understand that his actions were immoral. There is no excuse for his behaviour. His lame excuse with regards to the racial insensitivity by a member of his party is so childish and immature that I believe he needs to reflect on his grasp on reality. As if the Liberal policies have not destroyed the Canadian moral fibre with a weak Canadian dollar, graft, health care crisis, policy lies and immigration laxity etc etc. Jumping from fire to fire accomplishes nothing unless a personal benefit is going to be accrued by Peschisoldo.

Sure you can print this -

Jim Keegan of Richmond, B.C. was quoted in the Grope and Fail on Wednesday January 30, 2002

"Through his action of crossing the floor, Joe Peschisolido has exposed himself as a lying, hypocritical opportunist. He will be perfectly at home with the federal Liberals."

To that I would only like to add that Peschisolido is indeed a man without honour and a low life like him we don't need in the Canadian Alliance and the people of Richmond would do well to "allow" him to move back to Quebec or Ontario where he can run for the Liberals. Richmond and B.C.. deserves better than the likes of this opportunist to represent them in Parliament.
